Introduction about Indian Dispute Resolution Centre (IDRC)

Indian Dispute Resolution Centre, IDRC is a not-for-profit initiative of ‘International Dispute Resolution Council’ dedicated to provide an institutional environment, both online and offline, for the resolution of all kinds of disputes in an efficient, professional, time-bound and cost-effective manner.

The IDRC is registered with NITI Aayog for carrying out Legal Education, Literacy, awareness, Vocational Training and like.

About the Course:

The Course will provide an understanding of the general principles of Domestic and International Arbitration in Commercial Disputes. The course will provide candidates with an introduction to the legal framework, good practice and procedures, domestic arbitration in India. The Course provides Candidates with a detailed knowledge of the law underpinning arbitration and the procedural elements of a domestic arbitration, to enable them to understand and participate in such proceedings. The Course creates a rich and stimulating environment with group discussions that make it an interactive course.

1. Mr. Tejas Karia, Partner, Head-Arbtiration, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas

Tejas Karia is a partner and head of the arbitration practice at Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas. He has wide experience in handling international and domestic commercial arbitrations across sectors involving disputes relating to oil and gas, shareholders’ agreements, joint ventures, construction and infrastructure, insurance, real estate and private equity. He has represented multinational and Indian corporations in ad hoc and institutional arbitrations involving major arbitration institutions such as the LCIA, the ICC, the ICA, the ICADR, the RSA, the ICDR and the SIAC, seated in India, Paris, London and Singapore.

2. Mr. Ratan K Singh, Senior Advocate and Arbitrator, International Member, Keating Chambers

Ratan K Singh is a Senior Advocate in Supreme Court of India. He is one of the leading arbitrators and counsels who is appointed and engaged in complex, high-value commercial litigation and arbitration. With about 25 years of experience, he has a heavyweight practice in India, as well as internationally, with specialties in construction, engineering, infrastructure, mining, and general commercial and civil disputes.

3. Mr. AJ Jawad, Senior Mediator and Trainer, Partner, KD Lex Chambers

AJ Jawad has extensive experience in mediating commercial, contractual, matrimonial and child custody cases. He is a trainer with the MCPC, Supreme Court of India and has trained lawyers and judges in mediation all over India and has conducted Training of Trainers (ToT) workshops for the MCPC. Jawad is empaneled with the SIMC as an India-specialist mediator. He is accredited as a SIMI Level 3 Mediator. He is a panel mediator with the Bombay Chamber of Commerce. Jawad is also empaneled as an arbitrator with the Madras High Court.

4. Ms. Mayuri Tiwari Agarwala, Partner, Khaitan & Co

Mayuri Tiwari is a Partner in the Arbitration Practice. She specialises in international dispute resolution.
